Motorsport
first started in the year 1894 in Paris. The first
ever Motorsporting event was sponsored
by a newspaper. This kind of sport is immensely popular
with the Americans and the Europeans.
Though not
as popular as cricket, Motorsport in India is reaching new
heights. The number of motorsport events held every year
in India is a positive indicator of the growing enthusiasm.
Organising motorsport events like rallies, circuit racing,
autocross, dirt track or hill climbs requires professional
expertise. Sportscraft is a full time professional
setup aimed at organising and promoting motoring events
was started by Mr.Shrikant Karani.
Sportscraft
was founded in 1984, as the organising body for the
Indian Automotive Racing Club (IARC) whose committee members
could not devote enough time to organise events. Mr. Shrikant
Karani first got the taste of big motor sport when he helped
organising the Himalayan rally (Garhwal section) in 1980.
His appetite for organising rallies just kept on increasing
thereafter.
The
secret behind Karani's success is simple, he firmly believes

You just have to trust his free wheeling nature and he will
find out routes which are nonexistent. Be it the Himalayas,
the dusty inner roads of Western Maharashtra or the sand
dunes of Jaipur, Karani has a reputation of overcoming all
odds - natural, physical and political.
Sportscraft
has organised over 182 events till date, and has
received awards for four successive years for best event
organiser from Federation of Motor Sport Club on India (FMSCI),
the apex govering body for motorsport in India. Shrikant
Karani has pioneered and organised events in various cities
like Delhi,Goa, Jaipur, Udaipur, Ahmedabad, Baroda, Rajkot,
Bhopal, Jabalpur, Aurangabad, Kolhapur, Pune, Nasik besides
Mumbai. He was also instrumental in forming Motor Sporting
Club in Bhopal and Dehra Dun. Shrikant Karani's team comprises
of professionals from the advertising and marketing stream.
Each event is specially designed to suit and cater to the
sponsor/clients requirement thereby giving the sponsor/clients
maximum mileage.
