PUNE: Buoyed with the favourable market response to the 250cc cruiser bike, Kinetic Aquila, the Kinetic Group is talking to Hyosung Motors and Machinery Inc to manufacture the bikes in India.

Arun Firodia, chairman, Kinetic group said that the value proposition to Hyosung is to locally manufacture these bikes in a technical tie-up for the global markets.

“These bikes can be manufactured in India at almost two third of the cost. Some high investment components could be sourced from Hyosung while the other inputs could be sourced from India,” he explained. This deal would be finalised in around a months time. The company could be looking at volumes of about 10,000 bikes.

Kinetic has sold 200 Aquilas and has just introduced the third limited quantity series in select cities including Pune for Rs 1.75 lakh at Kinetic dealerships.

Kinetic is also gearing up for the manufacture of the Italjet range of scooters in the 100cc to 400cc range. The production equipment, moulds and dies for these scooters are currently in transit from Bologna, Italy to India.

The company would be making seven models with a price tag ranging from Rs 45,000 to Rs 60,000. Slated for a Diwali lanch, these scooters meet the consumers demand for performance, style and power, Mr Firodia stated.
