Since
its inception in 1919, the WIAA has been fortunate
to have at its forefront dedicated leaders who have
been responsible for the success that it currently
enjoys.
Starting from the first Indian President Mr.Kaikobad
C.Dinshaw (1923-24), the position has been graced
by eminent personalities like - Mr.Pranlal Bhogilal
and Mr.Nana Chudasama
The
Association has been patronised by outstanding citizens,
philanthropic merchants, leading professionals,
architects and city planners, eminent industrialists,
municipal corporators, assembly legislators, Mayors,
Sheriffs and dedicated social workers.
The
WIAA would boast as its vice-patrons, Maharajhas
of Mysore, Indore, Jodhpur, Rewa, Dhrangadhra, Porbander,
and even the hill states of the North like Jammu
and Kashmir, and Tehri-Garhwal, besides the Crown
Prince of Baroda, and rich Indian industralists
and philanthropists like Sir Victor Sasson, Sir
Dinshaw Petit (both Baronets), and Sir Dorab Tata.
The trend was to continue all down its 75 years,
when the WIAA could count amongst its patrons and
well wishers men of repute and fame such as Dr.Rajendra
Prasad, the first President of Independent India,
Mr.Mohammed Hidayatullah, Vice President of India,
Smt.Sharda Mukherjee, Governor of Gujarat and Mr.
Jayant Dalal, among many others.
