WIAA
(Western India Automobile Association) was established in 1919,
it use to conduct Rallies, Races and other sporting events on
a regular basis, till 1970 they had the power from the Worldbody
FIA.
In 1970 - FMSCI was born and use to control Motor Sport, the
scene in India of Motor Sports was not upto mark, the Great
Himalayan Rally was the only international events held. WIAA
use to conduct smaller events and the Vintage Car Rallies, it
assisted the VCCCI in conducting India's First International
Vintage Car Rally.
On April 6th 2000 the Sporting power was transfered to MAI (Motor
Sports Association Of India) headed by Nazir Hoosein, who is
also the Vice Preseident FIA.
FMACI went in Appeal to the World Court of FIA and lost the
appeal which was dismissed with cost.
Left with no alternative in tried all its best to block the
WIAA Rally which is the First round of the MAI INDIAN NATIONAL
CHAMPIONSHIP, the Maharashtra Goverment rejected the request
of WIAA to hold the Rally asking it to go thru FMSCI, the WIAA
left with no other alternative approached the Hon High Court
for justice and the Chief Judge & Justice Radhakrishna ruled
in favour of WIAA.

Office bearers of WIAA. Mr Vimal Shah is the President who has
been in Rallying sice 2 decades.
WIAA is back with a bang in Motor Sports, it was in the 70's
that WIAA celebrated its 50 years with a Rally starting from
4 Metro's and ending in Mumbai. Before the FMSCI was born WIAA
was holding the Motor Sporting power.
19 Cars driven by leading drivers of India will be particiapating
in the first round of the MAI National Championship event to
be flagged off by Mr Krupa Shanker Singh, Honble Minister of
State for Home,Govt Of Maharashtra at 9 AM on Saturday the 5th
August from the Flora Fountain Car Park.
Anita & Jagat Najappa are the husband and wife team and are
members of the MRF team the National Champions of last year.
Novice drivers are offered a set of tyres by MRF as a token
of encouragement.
Rally will be run on tarmaks and will not be car breaking roads.

WIAA is all set to run the Blind Mans Rally in October and
a Vetarans Rally in December 2000.
