Herbie - 1963 Volkswagen Beetle Ragtop Sedan
The Volkswagen Beetle has several firsts to its credit. It was the
first European car to sell a million vehicles in a year, and more
cars have been sold than any other individual model. The Volkswagen
(which literally means "people's car") Beetle, was indeed
one of the most popular cars to be ever produced. More endearing
and human than probably any other car to be made, the choice of
the Beetle as "Herbie - The car with feelings" could not
have been more appropriate.
Herbie made his first appearance in "The Love Bug", which
released in 1968, and was one of the most successful Walt Disney
Films.
The Beetle
featured in three of its sequels - Herbie Rides Again, Herbie
Goes To Monte Carlo and Herbie Goes Bananas. The car
has numerous gadgets like doors that open automatically, and gears
and pedals in the rear.
