Brakes

Maintenance for the braking system includes keeping an eye on the hydraulic fluid level in the master cylinder, and checking the wear on the brake-liner. The brake oil is not consumed and does not wear as you drive. However moisture could get into the cylinder which could corrode the brake-liners. Hence oil needs to be replaced about once in 2 years.

Some checks to be sure that your brakes are in good condition:

  • The brake pedal should be hard, and travel should be restricted to maximum 50%
  • Listen for any unusual noises while braking. Worn out brakes make a scratching / metal grinding sound, indicating that there is metal to metal contact and your pads need to be replaced.
  • If your car swings when you apply brakes it indicates a leakage in the wheel-cylinder
