The Western Region has for long felt the need of a world-class auto-show,
and this year the hiatus was filled by the first ever Mumbai Auto Show.
The show was organized by - Confederation of Indian Industries (CII),
Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) and Automobile
Components Manufacturers Association (ACMA), who also hold the
bi-annual Auto-Expo in Delhi that has gained international stature.
However unlike the Delhi Expo, the Mumbai Auto Show has been developed
as a boutique auto-show, and is aimed more at consumers rather than the
trade segment.
Special Air-conditioned hangars were erected to house the Show. Apart
from a glittering array of new cars, the show also exhibited motorcycles,
scooters, mopeds and even auto-rickshaws. Also on display were car-finance,
lubricant and auto- design & accessory companies.
The Show Layout indicates the locations of the various stalls in the four
Halls.
