The Mumbai Auto Show - Main

General Motors - Opel Vectra
The biggest automobile company in the world - General Motors - celebrated the completion of a 100 years of its existence last year. Their Indian operations began in 1993/4/5 with the launch of the Opel Astra, and the company will shortly be introducing the Opel Corsa in the Indian market.

The Mumbai Auto Show, however, had on display the third model of the Opel family - The Opel Vectra.

The Vectra is positioned as an executive sedan, and epitomizes the Opel reputation - "Engineering that enhances quality of life". An efficient four-valve engine combines economy, ecology and technology, and sophisticated electronics offer low-end torque and power without compromising on efficiency.

The Vectra focuses on the twin aspects of luxury and safety and the car has several features to always keep you relaxed and in control:

  • Sophisticated electronic gas re-circulation system (EGR) and fresh air induction
  • Full length, fully tuned and integrated side impact protection system
  • Tear-off spare wheel housing - for more efficient rear impact absorption
  • A unique Vectra 'triple load path' frontal impact safety system - that progressively softens all impacts
  • Disengaging pedals to minimize foot and leg injury risk
General Motors (India) however has no immediate plans to launch the Vectra in the Indian market. Also on display was the Opel Club (the fully loaded version of the Astra), specially introduced to celebrate the completion of 100 years of OPEL.
