The Project 178 cars
were conceived by FIAT as a part of its strategy to go global. The idea
was to produce a set of cars suited especially for developing countries.
A modern car, the Siena has been designed to cope with the harsh environment
and tough infrastructure conditions of developing countries.
A lot of consideration has been given to safety, and the design incorporates
all the necessary technical features to ensure stable and efficient braking,
good acceleration and predictable handling. The body designed to crumple
in a controlled manner, has a rigid cabin cell which provides passenger
survival space. The doors have anti-intrusion bars having high torsional
rigidity.
The Siena is a state-of-the-art three box salon specially designed and
engineered for developing countries.
The two variants of the Siena - ELX and ELX PS are available
