INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM AND EXPOSITION ON 'AUTOMOTIVE
ELECTRONICS AND ALTERNATE ENERGY VEHICLES'
AT IIT,
KANPUR ON 19-21 NOVEMBER, 1999 |

Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE)
and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur are organising an
International Symposium on 19 - 21 November, 1999 at IIT, Kanpur.
This is supported by SAE International.
USAID and host of professional associations like Society of Automotive
Engineers of Japan, Korea Auto Industries Corp. Associations, VRDE,
ARAI, ACMA, SIAM and ELCINA are co-sponsoring the Symposium.
The first of the series of Symposium on AUTOMOTIVE ELECTRONICS organised
by IETE Kanpur and IIT, Kanpur during October, 1997 was well-attended
by over 400 delegates from different parts of the world.
The Symposium is planned to bring the Scientists, Engineers, Experts
and Policy-makers to deliberate on the following:
- Growing importance and increasing complexity in the electrical
and electronics content of modern day vehicle and its contribution
towards safety, convenience, fuel optimization and pollution control
etc.
- Various alternatives highlighting the current state of the art
about the emerging vehicle technologies of 21st Century.
Inaugural session on 19th September, 1999 will
have Keynote Addresses of Mr. Mario Rivas, Corporate Vice
President of Motorola USA and Prof. C.C. Chan, Honda Chair
of Engineering and Head of Department of Electrical and Electronics
Engg., University of Hong Kong.
The organisers have arranged Exposition to coincide with the occasion
wherein worldwide manufacturers of Automobiles, 2-Wheelers and Automotive
parts would exhibit their products. Since one of the area of focus
would be Alternate Energy Vehicles, some of the vehicle manufacturers
including Indian Companies are not only displaying their Alternate
Energy Vehicles / Hybrid Vehicles / Electric Vehicles, but also
are going to ply them inside IIT, Kanpur for the delegates.
Mr. Jerome G. Rivard, President of 'Global Technology & Business
Development' who is the Co-founder of Convergence Symposium in USA
delivers the Keynote Address in the Plenary Session on November
20, 1999.
Ten technical sessions on current topics of interest have been scheduled
during 20th and 21st September 99. Topics like 'Technology Developments,
Emission and Environment', 'Technology Status of Electronic & Hybrid
Vehicle Drive System' and 'Need for newer approach in Vehicular
Electrical System & Technology' are bound to generate time-tested
technological insight into state-of-the-art need-based developments.
Eminent personalities from organisations of repute are delivering
speeches in technical sessions. The list of speakers at
Chief Executives of Automobile Sector, Electronic Industry,
Govenrment Departments, R&D Institutions, Professionals and Engineers
at all level of Automobile and Electronic Industry and members of
academia will have the unique opportunity of mutual exchange of
information with a select gathering of experts from all over the
globe.
