MAHINDRA & MAHINDRA LTD. Puts 8 New Vehicles on Display.

The Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. put 8 new vehicles on display. Of these, 5 are completely new models, 2 are new versions of old models while one is a recently introduced vehicle plying on selected routes.
A completely new experiment in marketing automobiles in India is being carried out while marketing the Mahindra Quadro, a trendy 4WD sport utility vehicle that comes in a choice of diesel or petrol engines. The Quadro is being displayed for the first time at the Auto Expo 2000. Quadro, which has been described as being for the "young at heart", can be completely customised to suit individual needs, and all the customisation can be done over the internet. Bookings for the vehicle can be taken over the internet (www.mahindra-quadro.com), and once e-commerce is allowed in India payments will also be accepted over the Net, said Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. officials. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. have on display an Internet kiosk where visitors can practice customising vehicles to their own needs.
Another brand new vehicle on display is the Mahindra Champion, an attractive three-wheeler designed on completely aerodynamic lines, that will be available as a 7 seater hard or soft top. A load carrier version will be offered. The Champion, excepted to change the look of three-wheelers on the road, will be on the roads in a couple of months, priced at a very competitive Rs.1.5 lakhs.
The Mahindra Savari, expected to be on the roads either later this month or next month, is also on display at Auto Expo 2000. This closed vehicle with an aerodynamically designed FRP top will be available in 6,10 and 11 seater versions and fitted with an instant start fuel efficient engine and 4 speed transmission. The price tag will be Rs 3.7 lakhs.
An environment-friendly new 3.5 ton load carrier in four tyre configuration vehicle, the Mahindra LoadKing DI, has a recently-developed fuel efficient direct injection diesel engine which gives good pickup and speed while helping keep the atmosphere clean. This model is priced at Rs 3.4 lakhs.
One of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.'s recent launches that is on display is the Mahindra Bijlee, currently plying on selected routes in Delhi. Bijlee is an electric, zero pollution three wheeler, available in 9 and 10 seater versions. The price tag stands at Rs. 2.6 lakhs including two batteries, and batteries have to be recharged approximately every 90 kilometres. Though the Bijlee has an initially high cost layout, it is a commercially viable option due to very low operation costs.
Also on display are the Marshall 2000 Deluxe and Armada Grand LX. updated versions of the current Mahindra Marshall and Mahindra Armada, and the Mahindra Rakshak, a bulletproof vehicle developed in collaboration with Plasan Sasa, an Israeli manufacturer of state-of-the-art light weight ballistic kits. The Rakshak has the advantage of being much lighter than the average bullet-proof vehicle due to lightweight bulletproof sheets.
