Puch - A Profile
Hero,
starting as a manufacturer of bicycle components, has become
a synonymous name with two-wheelers in India. The journey
began four decades ago and today, Hero has grown into a
multi-unit, multi-product, geographically diversified group
of companies. Like every success story, Hero saga contains
a spirit and enterprise of achievement through grit and
determination, coupled with vision and meticulous planning.
Hero
Puch was established more than ten years ago as a division
of Majestic Auto Limited and has grown to become a Rs 225
crores unit. The company manufactures step-thru motorcycles
and state-of-the-art scooters. The company started
manufacturing the step-thru motorcycles in 1987 after a
strategic tie up with Styer Diamler Puch of Austria.
The company tied up with Italian giant, Malaguti s.p.a
in 1995 to manufacture Hero Winner scooterettes.
The
company is a key player of step-thru motorbikes in India
and has a major market share in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan,
Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh. For the year 1996-97 and 1997-98,
it has been India's largest exporter of two-wheeler. Hero
Puch has a strong market presence in Uruguay, Paraguay and
Europe.
The company's
motto is 'Engineered for Reliability' and
the company aims to manufacture world class products at
minimum cost.
