outsells Santro in February

Udyog Ltd (MUL)'s Zen has regained its top position during February
when it out sales Hyundai Motor India Ltd's (HMIL's) Santro. During
February, Zen's sales figure was 6,581 as against
6,203 of Santro.
However, in the mid size car segment, Ford's Ikon has emerged
the top sellers during the month. Ford has sold 1,386 units
of Ikon against 1,270 units of Accent by
HMIL and 1,113 units of Esteem by MUL in the same
period. Since its launch in December 1999, Ford India had delivered
4,153 Ikons and it had 3,600 orders on hand, claimed the company.
MUL achieved a 22 per cent jump in car sales to 30,591 units in
February against 25,177 units in the same month last year. During
February, the company sold 1,057 units of its latest offering,
Wagon-R and 656 units of luxury sedan Baleno.

Daewoo
sales volumes at 4,453 units in Feb

Daewoo
Motors India (DMIL) has sold 4,453 cars in February 2000, which
includes an offtake of 4,312 Matiz cars. The upsurge in domestic
demand forced the company todespatch only 90 Matiz, DMIL has started
operating two shifts to increase its monthly production. The company
plans to manufacture 5,300 units in March, which will help clear
the backlog and reduce delivery time. (The Economic Times -
