FLAG OFF
Today
the Rally Of the Raj was flagged off from the Oberoi Hotel
New Delhi at 8 am heading for Agra for the first night halt.
20 cars are participating which have come all the way from
UK, Mexico and India and will be heading for Mumbai via Rajasthan
on a 9 day trip.
On the way they will be visiting Jaipur,Jodhpur, Udaipur,
Ahmedabad and finally reach Rajpipla-Mumbai on the 19th.Feb,00.
The participants are very excited on the very fact that they
are in India and will be going through the remote parts of
our country.
There are cars belonging from 1909 to 1966 of which there
are really some very rear Classic Vintages and are in pristine
condition (some of our modern car will be ashamed of standing
next to them) and they all carry a character of their own
which goes along with the personality of the present owner.
Most cars have changed hands from their first owner but their
maintenance is worth commenting upon. Seeing the condition
of these cars they will traverse the route without trouble
and will be a treat to see them at the finale.
The drivers and their navigators (some drivers along with
their spouses as navigators) were beaming with excitement
and the very thought of excitement in the next comming days
could be seen on their faces and actions.
One of the rarest Rolls Royce Silver Ghost 1909 entered by
Lord Montagu of Bealieu had Wooden Spoke Wheels stole the
show.
In Jaipur and Udaipur the participants will have a rest day
and will be rubbing shoulders with with the Ex- Rulers and
Princes of our Country.
