After
a gap of 10 years the motor sport community is to have a Raid,
one of the most exciting formats of automotive competition.
The
route is exciting, gruelling yet picturesque and a rallyists
delight.
After flag off in Shimla the event heads to Manali 280 kms
away. Threading its way through the forested mountains of
Himachal and crossing the Jalori Pass, the event will halt
overnight in Manali.
Day 2 will be from Manali to Kaza. After cresting the Rohtang
Pass at 13000 feet one descends to a high altitude cold desert
in the Inner Himalaya. The rest of the day is spent racing
at altitudes from 11000 feet and above. After Rohtang, and
a long glacier crossing, the next pass to cross is Kunzum
la at approx 15000 feet. Overnight, the rally halt is at Kaza
13000 feet, the district headquarters for Spiti. The stage
from Manali to Kaza is 250 kms.
Day 3 and 4 the event will run back on almost the same route
to Shimla using some interesting tarmac stages as well, with
Post Event Scrutiny and Prize Distribution on October 11,
