Cadillac Seville
1957 Cadillac Seville HardTop

1957 Cadillac Eldorado's Seville

The Eldarado entered 1957 in the same mode as before: powerful, flashy, and unique. Still, Cadillac's flagship saw hard times in the late fifties recession, as did just about every other Detroit glamour boat -- along with the industry as a whole. Cadillac suffered less than most, but the Eldarados-Seville hardtop fell off by heavy margins. Perhaps that's because they didn't seem as special as before, and though retained its tailfinned individuality, it was upstaged by the grand luxe Eldarado Brougham.
The Seville featured twin four-barrel Carter carbs, good for 325 bhp at 4800 rpm and 400 lbs/ft torque.
Seville, weighted 4810 pounds.Seville with a full tank and driver aboard tipped the scales at two and a half tons. The bottom line was that, according to contemporary road tests, performance remained about the same as in recent years.

Remaining technically within the Sixty-Two series, the Seville had a wheel base of 129.5 inch. However, the tapered, rounded tail sprouting tall, flashy sharkfins made the Eldos unique. So did Sabre Spoke wheel covers, and sharp-eyed observers noted there was no hood ornament. Broad, bright-metal lower rare-fender appliques were revived from '54, and as always Eldorados sported almost fully exposed rear wheels.
Up front, this smiled as brightly as other Caddys, but chromy, leather swathed interiors further set them apart.Cadillac built four '57 Seville four door hardtops, specially prepared for show purposes and/or trial marketing.
Seville listed at a hefty $7286, but the buyer received a sumptuous interiors and a long list of standard equipment.
