Lincoln
Mk VII
The most fundamental change in American luxury cars for many
years, the Mark VII was an aerodynamic sedan with the remarkable
feature of electronically controlled air suspension, developed
in conjunction with Goodyear.
The system consists of four air springs, a compressor, three
height sensors and a microprocessor, all working to maintain
a constant ride height. The idea behind this revolutionary concept
was to give ride quality equal to that of the bigger Lincolns
of yesterday, but with far superior handling.
The Mark VII was also the first American car with flush-glazed
headlamps, made legal just before the model went into production.
A straight-six BMW turbo-diesel option was also available.
