The Grand has a XD3 engine and 5 speed transmission (all synchromesh)
with power windows, steering central locking, AC
2. In 4WD Front & Rear axle are Full floating hypoid type,
Capacity:1000kg & 1700kg respectively.
In 2WD only the Rear axle is full floating hypoid type while
the front axle is Dead Tubular, capacity:907kg)
The Armada Grand is Mahindra and Mahindra's advanced all-terrain
vehicle. The 'Grand' incorporates several features, which are
designed to make driving a highly comfortable experience.
The air-intake system has been redesigned, and the added air
resonator reduces the engine noise. The exhaust system routes
the exhaust directly to the pipe to reduce noise level, while
engine mounting insulators give better engine support for lower
vibrations. The body and floor of the Armada has been reinforced
with gussets to further reduce body vibration.
The XD3 diesel engine, 5-speed BA10 transmission, and the option
of 4X4 with an electric shift Borg Warner transfer case, give
maximum driving pleasure.
The 2.5 litre 4 stroke, 4 cylinder, oversquare diesel XD3 PB
engine delivers a maximum power of 72.5 HP @ 4000 rpm and a
maximum torque of 15.5 kgm @ 2500 rpm.
The brakes are hydraulic with tandem master cylinder with vacuum
assisted servo - disc (front) and drum (rear). The "parking"
is internal expanding, operating on rear wheels. Hand lever
and cable type.
The suspension design has shackle-bushes and shock absorbers
for a better and smoother ride. It has a front large diameter
stabilizer bar with an elliptical leaf spring, to give better
roll-control and stability. The rear-suspension too is semi-elliptical
leaf type.
The other features of the Mahindra Armada Grand are:
· Power steering
· 4X4 electric shift Borg-Warner transfer case, which
allows you to shift into a 4-wheel drive even when the vehicle
is in motion. The vehicle thus can turn into an excellent off-roader
that can take on any terrain.
· Moulded seats contoured for fatigue free support.
· Power windows
· Central locking
· 60 litre fuel tank (with electric float) which allows
you to cover long distances across towns without worry.
