Indica - Diesel Std (non A/C) Features |
|
The Indica
Diesel Standard is truely a small car with a large heart - powered
with a 1405cc diesel engine. The design is based on the TUD5
Peugeot powerplant. The engine has been refined and optimised
to deliver high standards of efficiency and emission.
The diesel powerplant of the Indica is indirect-injection
design with a single overhead camshaft driven by a toothed belt.
Fuel is delivered by a Lucas TVS rotary pump. The engine produces
a fantastic 38.1 bhp/litre which is the highest among similarly
sized engines.
The front-suspension is Independent, Wishbone
type with McPherson strut and anti-roll bar and the rear is
Independent semi-trailing arm with coil-spring mounted on hydraulic
shock absorbers. Brakes are disc-type in the front and drum
in the rear, with dual and diagonally split circuits, vacuum
assisted with PCR valves.
Conceived by the Italian design house I.DE.A.,
the tear-drop headlights and bison tail lamps are unique. The
Indica is the roomiest car in its class, with fully foldable
rear-seat that allows you to accommodate extra luggage. The
Indica conforms to current European safety norms for frontal
impact. Energy absorbing crumple zones, side-impact beams, a
rigid monochrome frame and child safety locks (on rear doors)
ensure adequate safety to passengers.
Other features of the Indica are:
- Internally adjustable outer rear view mirrors (Driver's
side)
- Spot (reading) lamps & cabin lamp
- Tinted windshield glass
- Seats partially lined with fabric
- Digital clock
- Child safety locks
- Cup holder in glovebox compartment
- Collapsible steering columns
- Remote fuel-lid and tailgate latch
- Anti-submarine type front seats
- Internal antennae
- Moulded roof lining and side-door trims
