Mercedes Benz India Ltd. first introduced the E-class in India, in 1995. Its current range of models has a number of additional and striking features like twin elliptical headlamps, the Mercedes Benz Drive Authorization system, the standard Acceleration Skid Control (ASR) and the newly developed braking system Brake Assist (BAS).

The E 230 Petrol is available with both, manual and automatic transmission option.

Environment friendly concerns ensure that no CFCs are used in the production of the E-class, and the car is almost completely recyclable. Renewable raw materials like coconut fibre, sisal and flax are extensively used.

The suspensions are double transverse control arm with coil springs and gas-filled shock absorbers in the front, and a five-link independent suspension with coil springs in the rear.

The brakes are hydraulic, diagonally split, servo assisted with ABS (anti-lock braking system), and asbestos free with discs (in the front) and drum (at the rear).
